The new <strong>Global Business Mobility (GBM) visa <\/strong>came into force on 11 April 2022. This new business immigration route offers new options for overseas businesses. Driven by the UK Home Office last year, the GBM immigration procedures incorporate 5 new visa grounds:<\/p>\n<h2>1. Senior or specialist Worker<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>Senior or Specialist Worker scheme <\/em>now replaces the <em>Intra-Company Transfer <\/em>scheme. It is aimed at <strong>overseas companies already established in the UK <\/strong>to meet specific business needs. Very similar to the previous immigration scheme in place, here are some eligibility criteria to remember:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The foreign worker concerned has already been employed overseas for more than 12 months by the UK-based company<\/li>\n<li>The minimum salary required is \u00a342,400 per annum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the full set of criteria, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/senior-specialist-worker-visa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Graduate Trainee<\/h2>\n<p><em>The Graduate Trainee pattern <\/em>replaces the <em>Intra-company Graduate Trainee <\/em>visa category. It is for <strong>foreign graduate trainees <\/strong>wishing to access a training program provided by a multinational company already operating in the UK. Here are some eligibility criteria to have in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The minimum salary required is \u00a323,100 per annum<\/li>\n<li>Or, equal to 70% of the average salary for the position the trainee will occupy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the full set of criteria, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/graduate-trainee-visa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Secondment Worker<\/h2>\n<p><em>Secondment Worker <\/em>&#8211; this scheme is for <strong>foreign workers posted <\/strong>to UK companies. This ground is only for <strong>high value <\/strong>contracts or <strong>investments<\/strong>. The following is an overview of the current eligibility criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have worked for the foreign company for more than one year prior to the application<\/li>\n<li>The foreign company has a high value contract with the UK sponsor of the posted worker<\/li>\n<li>The position he\/she is to hold is part of the eligibility list established by the WBG (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/global-business-mobility-eligible-occupations-and-codes\/global-business-mobility-eligible-occupations-and-codes\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the full set of criteria, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/secondment-worker-visa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Service Supplier<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>Service Supplier <\/em>ground is for <strong>foreign employees <\/strong>and <strong>self-employed people<\/strong>. It concerns individuals wishing to enter the UK as <strong>service providers<\/strong>. The professions that are accessible to them are defined by the Trade and Cooperation Agreement signed with the EU. Here are some eligibility criteria to bear in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exercising an eligible occupation (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/global-business-mobility-eligible-occupations-and-codes\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Hold a certificate of sponsorship provided by a UK sponsor<\/li>\n<li>At least 12 months&#8217; experience overseas (if self-employed) OR at least 12 months&#8217; work for the foreign company applying (if foreign employee)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the full set of criteria, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/service-supplier-visa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>5. UK Expansion Worker<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>UK Expansion Worker <\/em>scheme replaces the <em>Sole Representative <\/em>and <em>Overseas Business <\/em>visas. This new scheme facilitates <strong>the establishment of foreign companies in the UK<\/strong>. In order to do so, the entity concerned must hold a provisional sponsorship licence. Unlike the previous legislation, the <em>UK expansion Worker scheme <\/em>allows <strong>several <\/strong>representatives of the entity to enter the UK (as opposed to one previously). Please note that, unlike the old procedure, this new reason is <strong>only <\/strong>valid for <strong>one year and is renewable once<\/strong>. Here are some eligibility criteria to bear in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a certificate of sponsorship provided by the entity<\/li>\n<li>Have worked for the entity outside the UK for more than one year<\/li>\n<li>Work in a WBG-eligible position (read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/global-business-mobility-eligible-occupations-and-codes\/global-business-mobility-eligible-occupations-and-codes\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>The minimum salary required is \u00a342,000 per annum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the full set of criteria, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/uk-expansion-worker-visa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although new, these 5 immigration routes follow the logic of existing schemes: the visas mentioning <em>Intra-Company Transfer<\/em>, <em>Intra-Company Graduate Trainee<\/em>, <em>Representative of an Overseas Business <\/em>and <em>International Agreement<\/em>. <strong>Only the &#8220;<em>Secondment Worker<\/em>&#8221; and &#8220;<em>UK Expansion Worker&#8221; <\/em>reasons bring real changes to the legislation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Planning to immigrate to the UK?
